Brantford Welcome In Resource Centre is operated by a small staff and many dedicated and caring volunteers. Our volunteers come from across the community and from wide variety of backgrounds and bring a variety of skills to the agency.

Volunteer roles include;

Board of Directors

As a member of the board of director, you would bring your diverse background and experience in overseeing the operation of the agency. Whether your experience is in business, the not for profit sector, finance, accounting, marketing, medicine, counseling, fund development or any other discipline related to the work we do, you would assist in giving direction to the agency and the Executive Director, oversee the agency finances and funding and assist the agency in meeting our mission, vision and values.

The Board meets once a month for two hours.

Advisory Committee Member

As a member of the Advisory Committee you would use your specific skills and experience to assist the board in policy development, leadership, communications, and other issues.

Evening Intake Shift Volunteer

As an evening intake shift volunteer you would register new guests, assign beds, interact with all guests, oversee the distribution of clothing, toiletries etc. and provide referral information to those in need. Volunteers also ensure guests follow our code of contact and enforce our bed time.

Volunteers for this position should be caring but firm, compassionate and non-judgmental and be comfortable approaching people of all types.

The Evening Intake Shift Volunteer position is 7 pm to midnight one night a week.

 

Morning Exit and Cleanup Volunteer

A Morning Exit and Cleanup Volunteer assists in waking guests at 7;30, putting out a cold breakfast and  clearing the shelter by 8:30. Once the shelter is vacant the volunteer assists with floor mopping, cleaning and laundry.

Volunteers for this position should be caring but firm, compassionate and - judgmental and be comfortable approaching people of all types.

Morning exit and Cleanup Volunteer shift is 6:00 am to 10:00 am any number of days.

 

Drop In Volunteer

As a Daytime Drop In Volunteer, you will help set up the common room to receive guests, record attendance, help prepare and serve lunch, interact with all guests, offer referral information, and tidy up afterward.

Volunteers for this position should be caring but firm, compassionate and - judgmental and be comfortable approaching people of all types.

The Daytime Drop In Volunteer shift is 10 am to 4 pm

 

Resource Centre Volunteer

As a Resource Center Volunteer you would help with administrative and reception duties. Knowledge of standard office procedures, including Microsoft Office required.

Volunteers for this position should be detail oriented, good listeners, able to deal with a diverse public and compassionate.

Resource Centre Volunteer is any 4 hour period Monday to Friday between 9 and 5.

 

Sunday BBQ Volunteer

As a Sunday BBQ Volunteer you would help provide a community BBQ during the summer including set up, engaging with guests, serving, offering resources and clean up.

Volunteers for this position should be caring but firm, compassionate and non- judgmental and be comfortable approaching people of all types.

This position is Sundays from 3:00 to 5:00
